Nitrogen and phosphorus balance for regional waters 2010 – 2013

Infographic | 26-09-2017

The use of fertilizers (both in the form of animal manure and artificial fertilizers) leads to volatilization of ammonia and losses of nitrogen and phosphorus to groundwater and surface water. These losses lead to a reduction in the quality of groundwater and surface water as a raw material for the drinking water supply. The figure gives an overview of the nitrogen and phosphorus balance for regional waters for the period 2010-2013.
