Food, land and biodiversity

Competing claims on land play an important role in meeting the sustainable development goals on food and biodiversity. In 2010, an estimated 925 million people were undernourished, and agricultural production needs to grow by 60% to 70% in order to feed a global population of over 9 billion by 2050. This section focuses on the level of effort required to reach food and biodiversity goals for 2050 and identifies strategies for achieving these goals.
