Coordination Centre for Effects

the Data Centre for the Modelling and Mapping of Critical Levels and Loads and Air Pollution Effects, Risks and Trends

The CCE is responsible for the development of modelling methodologies and databases for the integrated assessment of effects of air pollution (under climate change) on biodiversity in European natural areas, including Natura 2000 sites. The CCE collaborates with National Focal Centres and many institutions.

What is CCE

The CCE is responsible for the development of modelling and mapping methodologies for the integrated assessment of European air pollution effects (under climate change). The CCE provides effect-based support to European air pollution abatement policies. Results were successfully used under LRTAP Convention of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and under the European Commission (EC). Currently the focus is on supporting the revision of the multi pollutant multi-effect protocols (LRTAP Convention), and on the review/revision of the European Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution (EC). The CCE also assists the European Environment Agency in updating its core set of indicators.
