The demonstration version of the FAIR 2.0 model (hereafter known as FAIR 2.0 demo model) is based on the components of the model that have been published in the scientific literature and MNP-RIVM reports. The main objective of this FAIR 2.0 demo model is for orientation on the issue, education and capacity building.

On June 05, 2009 we have put a new version of Fair 2.0 here. Change: Fair is written in and visualised with the MyM visual simulation tool, a coproduct of the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency and Tizio BV. Lately MyM has had a major upgrade. This version uses the latest version of MyM.

Before you download the model we ask you to accept the license agreement and to fill in a (very short)  form.

For any questions please contact: Michel den Elzen

Main differences with the full FAIR 2.0 model
  • The climate model (including the climate attribution model) is based on the UNFCCC-ACCC climate model. It is not possible to create your own global emissions profile and evaluate the effects in terms of emissions targets
  • The emission allocation model does not include the Triptych regime, and the model has limited options for policy parameters (burden-sharing keys, thresholds and others).
  • The mitigation cost model uses highly aggregated marginal abatement costs curves (MACs) for all greenhouse gases. It is not possible to evaluate the present Kyoto Protocol in much detail, as the base-year emissions and the subdivision of the Former Soviet Union in the different states (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia Federation, etc.) is not included.

Note: A full version of the model will be made available on a limited basis to non-profit research and education institutions, or national ministries and only for non-commercial applictions. This will be decided upon a case by case basis.
