ICT and housing choice in the Netherlands

Artikel | 31-12-2003

In this chapter the impact of ICT on the way firms in the Netherlands allocate their production in relation to the housing choice is addressed. The housing choice is adaptive behaviour to combine the various interdependent careers, such as the educational, working, family career, of the members of the household, in time and space. ICT and more specific teleworking may increase the time-budgets of households and therefore influence their housing demand. This article presents the results of two research projects related to teleworkers and self employed entrepreneurs who use former agricultural buildings for non-agricultural activities.
