HARBERS, Arjan M. Sc.

Arjan Harbers (MSc) is an urban planner and designer and, since 2006, also a researcher on urbanism at PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. He has conducted research on a wide range of topics, including sustainable urbanism, mixed use urbanism, small-scale urbanism, European urban planning, Chinese urban planning, cross border planning, airports, urban metabolism, and deprived neighbourhoods. Previously, from 1998 until 2006, he worked for internationally renowned architectural offices in Rotterdam, Zurich, and Brussels. From 2010 to 2017, Harbers was a member of the board of editors for the Dutch journal on urbanism S+RO. Since 2020, he has been a columnist for the Dutch journal on landscape architecture and urban design, Blauwe Kamer, and since 2023 he has been an expert on international urbanism for the Architecture Committee of the Creative Industry fund NL.
