Forum on Natural Capital Accounting for Better Policy Decisions: Taking Stock and Moving Forward
Based on the successful lesson sharing at the first natural capital accounting (NCA) forum, ‘Natural Capital Accounting for Better Policy’, organised by PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the WAVES Global Partnership in The Hague on 22–23 November 2016, this publication presents a rich and diverse set of case studies from 12 countries.
This report offers an initial synthesis of achievements, challenges, lessons, tentative principles, and productive ideas for subsequent steps, drawing on experiences and interactions among a range of countries, from low- to high-income countries, and those with long or short NCA experience. The aim is to help NCA developers and policymakers in all countries how to obtain good natural capital information that may influence policy decisions.
