On Friday, 5 June 2015, the European Network of the Heads of Environment Protection Agencies (EPA) organizes the conference “Green Economy: Opportunities for Growth, Jobs and Innovation in Europe”. This EPA-conference aims to facilitate a better understanding of the potential of a green economy to create economic growth and to boost innovation while reducing harmful environmental impacts. It will bring together political decision makers, green economy experts and business representatives.
The location is Permanent Representation of the Netherlands, Avenue de Cortenbergh 4–10, Brussels. The conference starts at 9 am and will end at 5 pm.
The keynote speakers are:
- Marianne Fay, economist at the World Bank
- Paul Ekins from the London University College of London Institute for Sustainable Resources
- Gwenole Cozigou, Director in the EU Commission’s DG GROW
- Karl Falkenberg, Director General, DG Environment, European Commission
They will share their views on international and European developments. Conference participants will look into a number of business cases from different European countries, explore favorable conditions and good practice examples for a green economy, and gain awareness of the need for a greener economy.
Maarten Hajer, PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency’s general director, will moderate the panel discussion. PBL is member of the EPA network and one of the organizers of the conference.
